In partnership with the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library, the Virginia War Memorial, Richmond Va, kicked off their inaugural middle school seminar to commemorate World War I. Charles City County HS LEAD students (7th & 8th grades) were invited to participate. Other schools from Hampton City and Caroline County also attended the seminar.
The Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library staff provided a presentation on life during WWI which included artifacts and uniforms during that period. Selected students were given the opportunity to try on and model the uniforms.
Additionally, a 90 year old WWII and Korean War veteran was on hand to speak to the students about his experiences and bring “History Alive”.
