Cornelius Smith

Get to know Mr. Smith, our 5-6 Special Education Teacher


Mr. Cornelius Smith, is a native of Alexandria, Va. This will be his 7th year in the field of Education. This will be Mr. Smith’s first year with our Charles City Elementary Family, where he will be working with our Special Education students in the 5th and 6th grades. Mr. Smith has served in many capacities with Henrico County Public schools, and Richmond Public Schools. He has been an Exceptional Educator all of those years working with students with a range of disabilities. He has served as an Administrator, Department Chair, Collaborative Teacher, Summer School resource teacher, Lead Teacher, Mentoring Program Coordinator, Varsity/Junior Varsity Football, Indoor and Outdoor Track Coach, and above all a life time Learner and Educator.

Mr. Smith attended the University of Richmond for his undergrad degree where he was a Lettermen for the Richmond Spider Football team, being a Scholarship Student-Athlete from 2002-2007. Academics have always been a top priority, and having the opportunity to play football was the perfect blend. Mr. Smith later went on to further his education at Concordia University, Portland, Oregon, where he obtained a Master of Educational Leadership degree. Currently Mr. Smith is in the Doctoral program at Regent University, Virginia Beach, Va. where he will earn a Doctorate of Educational Leadership, Concentration of K-12 School leadership degree. Mr. Smith will open his own Charter School in the Future.

In his free time Mr. Smith enjoys spending time with his Wife of one year, cooking, sports, and Friends and Family. Mr. Smith loves his church, and volunteering through various ministries, as well as volunteering through his fraternity Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc.
