Dr. Katina Otey
Superintendent, Charles City County Public Schools
Dr. Katina Otey is the Superintendent of Charles City County Public Schools, where she recently completed her first year of service leading the division. With 32 years of experience in public education, she has dedicated her career to supporting students, educators, and communities across the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Dr. Otey began her career as a classroom teacher with Roanoke City Public Schools in 1994. Throughout her distinguished career, she has served in a variety of leadership roles, including teacher, assistant principal, principal in Henrico County Public Schools, Director of Elementary School Leadership for Chesterfield County Public Schools, and Chief Academic Officer and Associate Superintendent for Charlottesville City Schools.
“Serving the students, staff, families, and community of Charles City County has been both an honor and a privilege,” said Dr. Otey. “Over the past year, I have witnessed firsthand the dedication of our educators, the resilience of our students, and the unwavering support of our community. Together, we have made meaningful progress, and I remain committed to ensuring every student receives the opportunities, resources, and support needed to thrive. I look forward to continuing our work together as we build on our successes and pursue excellence for all.”
Dr. Otey earned a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Virginia Tech, a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Virginia Tech.
